Happy Halloween! (with "souvenir" photo!)

Although Halloween isn't really celebrated in France, you can tell from our recent miniatures that we do like to get into the "spirit" of it!

So this afternoon we prepared a dish full of candy for the 4 or 5 kids that live in the village that may pass this evening and dug out our trusty old papier mâchée Jack-o-lanterns to let them know we're up for a visit!

You can see from the brown leaves on the strawberry plants under the pumpkins that we're not as enthusiastic about our gardening as we are our miniaturing!

Ooops, les fraisiers, sous les citrouilles...

Having said that, the rose bushes under the window are mercilessly hacked down to the ground twice a year (we're told not to do this!), but they keep growing and they are once again in full bloom.  And the roses this autumn are g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s!

A rose.  This afternoon.
But you're not here for gardening advice - don't ever come here for that.  Cooking, yes.  Miniatures, yes.  Gardening, nooo!

Talking of miniatures, here is a 'souvenir' photo of most of our pieces from this year!

Class of 2010. Click for larger size.
And with that, we draw a line under Halloween for this year.  Well, almost.  The give-away draw is still open!   If you haven't already entered, click here to do so.  It closes at midnight tonight, 31 October, so don't delay!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

What will you do with the extra hour?

Don't forget that the clocks go back an hour tonight.  At least they do in Europe, elsewhere I don't know...

Anyway, this is great news because we get back that hour that they took from us at the beginning of summer.  I did so like that hour.  It'll be nice to see it again :)

I do have a suggestion for what you can do with about 30 seconds of it - try to win a miniature!

If you haven't done so already, why not enter our Halloween giveaway where you can win this plate full of mini treats...

Just leave a comment here before Sunday midnight to be entered into the draw.

OK, done?  So what are you going to do with the remaining 59 minutes and 30 seconds of that extra hour?!

Handpainted Halloween / Gribouillages Halloweenesques

For a change, some painting, in miniature of course :)

If it wasn't for Halloween I'd have never tried scribbling skeletons, ghosts or pumpkins.  So thank you Halloween!!

And because I'm often asked the question, "No I don't use a magnifying glass", but I do use brushes with next to no bristles....

Halloween Jewellery / Bijoux Halloweenesques

To take a break from miniatures I often relax by making myself some jewellery.  I make tons of it, way too much for me (and Neil won't wear them!), and I can't wear it all at the same time...

So if anybody wants some - take a look below...!  I've grouped together some pieces that go well with Halloween and of course, it's all food-based...

Miniature collectors shouldn't despair - I'm not abandoning you!  The Halloween miniatures we've been teasing you with will be listed tomorrow morning (French time).  We'll put up a post when they're listed :)

I mentioned yesterday that we hoped to  have some new Halloween minis ready to show soon.  Well it's sooner than we thought!  Here are some from the first series - hope you like them!

(franchement?!)

Not sure when they'll be listed; hopefully this weekend / early next week.

Getting Ready For Halloween / Ca sent la citrouille !

With a bit of luck (and lots of concentration!) we should have some new Halloween miniatures to show you in the next few days (hopefully before 31 October!), so in preparation for their arrival, we've pimped up the blog Halloween-style!

We've also rummaged around in the archives and pulled out some photos from Halloween 2005 which many of you will never have seen.  They are shown here exactly as they were back then - in super "Bubble-O-Vision!" which ...ahem... we no longer do (we had to start somewhere, and to think we were so pleased with this amaaaaaaaaaaaazing idea back then!)

Enjoy!

Hats off to Lucia! Chapeau!

The miniature hat that I won in the giveaway on Lucia's blog arrived this morning :) My first giveaway win!  Hooray!!

Snug in its tiny box, after a voyage across the Atlantic I had the perfect hat stand ready for it!

I love it - lots of detail and it's beautifully finished!

I take my hat off to you Lucia, a thousand thanks!

Chapeau, Lucia, et mille mercis!

And talking about giveaways, we're working on it....
